Anastrozole

Product Name: Anastrozole

Active Ingredient:
Anastrozole

Description:
Anastrozole is a potent, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for the conversion of androgens to estrogens in the body. By lowering estrogen levels, anastrozole helps reduce the growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells. Anastrozole is considered an effective treatment for both adjuvant therapy and metastatic breast cancer.

  • Metastatic Breast Cancer: Anastrozole is also used in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease is estrogen receptor-positive.
  • Breast Cancer Prevention: In some high-risk populations, anastrozole may be used off-label for the prevention of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
  • Ovarian Cancer: Anastrozole has also been investigated in clinical trials for use in the treatment of ovarian cancer, particularly in women with hormone receptor-positive tumors.

Dosage and Administration:
Anastrozole is typically administered orally, with a standard dosage of 1 mg once daily.
